550 Special Police Personnel to Guard City Parks

The Jakarta Parks and Cemetery Department is about to deploy 550 special police officers to guard parks in the capital for 24 hours. It is aimed since the parks are turned into bawdy place.

Jakarta Head Dept. of Parks and Cemetery, Nandar Sunandar, said six young couples were secured due to immoral acts at Katlea Park, Kampung Sawah, Srengseng, West Jakarta.

Besides deploying uniformed-police patrol, Sunandar added, he also imposes undercover patrol.

Meanwhile, Indri (28), Klender resident, expressed the officers should also supervise park around the East Flood Canal (BKT).

"Lack of lighting has made the area is crowded with couples up to midnight," she expressed.

As known, Jakarta Parks and Cemetery Department is focusing on parks construction by demolishing hundreds of slum area. The parks could be utilized by family to gather, teenagers to socialize, or even doing sport.

Pluit Reservoir Park, is one of newly developed park. In fact, the residents complaining due to immoral acts did by teenagers.
